Leadership Program at De La Salle
Camp Overview
The Leadership Through Athletics Program is a two-week summer leadership program for students in Grades 8-10 who want to build real work experience and leadership skills in a fun, high-energy sports camp environment. Leaders-in-Training (LITs) take on a variety of projects each week, including curriculum development, session planning, camper safety and conflict resolution. For a portion of each day, LITs are assigned volunteer positions and help our Camp Staff lead activities with younger campers ages 4-10, always with adult supervision.
The program prepares young athletes to step up and thrive in leadership roles, building life skills like communication, teamwork, giving and receiving feedback, and public speaking.
For Summer 2027, LITs work alongside our new SportPLUS, SportPLUS Girls and SportPLUS Kids camps at De La Salle, so they gain hands-on experience across 10+ sports and a range of age groups rather than a single stream.

Leadership Through Athletics Program (LIT)
Each session runs for two weeks. Free extended care is available from 8:30-9:00am and 4:00-5:30pm, and our catered lunch program can be added during registration.

* Session #3 begins Tuesday, August 3 following the Civic Holiday. All registrations are subject to an online credit card processing fee.
- Catered Lunch Program: a healthy gourmet lunch and afternoon snack for $75 + HST per week, available as an optional add-on during registration
- Practical Curriculum: overseen by experienced coaches and delivered through a mix of classroom teaching and hands-on experience
- Premier Facilities: FIFA-regulation turf field, a new athletic centre with a double gym, six pickleball courts and two beach volleyball courts

- Small Classroom Ratio: so LITs connect with their group, build real-world experience and receive individualized feedback
- Free Extended Care from 8:30-9:00am and 4:00-5:30pm, plus simple registration with family accounts, loyalty incentives and flexible camp transfers
Daily Schedule
The Leadership Program runs from 9:00am-4:00pm each day. Mornings are sessions on leadership styles, camper management and program planning. Afternoons, LITs are placed with SportPLUS camper groups to gain hands-on experience alongside our coaches.
Leadership Curriculum
Led by certified and experienced coaches, LITs attend classroom sessions and seminars built around real scenarios and problem-solving, then apply what they've learned with campers in a live camp environment.
Community Service
LITs may be eligible for community service hours for their volunteer work during the program. LITs should check with their school about volunteer hour eligibility before the program begins.

Common Questions
What should my child bring?
LITs should bring a water bottle, athletic clothing, running shoes and any sport-related equipment they need. Please label all items with your child's name. We are a SCREEN-FREE camp, so please leave cell phones at home.
Is lunch included?
Our Catered Lunch Program is an optional add-on you can select during registration ($75 + HST per week). It includes a healthy gourmet lunch and afternoon snack. LITs are welcome to bring additional NUT-FREE snacks and drinks. If your child has a dietary need or allergy, please note it on your registration form and confirm with our office.
What is the cancellation policy?
Our cancellation deadline is May 31st for a full refund less a $50.00 admin fee. No refunds or credits are available after May 31st.
When does registration open?
Priority registration opens October 28 for returning participants. Regular registration opens to all families on November 2.
Is extended care available?
Yes, it's free with every registration, from 8:30-9:00am and 4:00-5:30pm each day. Please select it when you register so we can staff it properly.
Do LITs get volunteer hours?
Upon completion of the program, LITs will receive a letter stating completed volunteer hours. We recommend getting volunteer hour approval from your child's school PRIOR to the program to ensure there are no issues with submission.
